Muneca Film Review

Muneca

Film Review by: Luis Pedron of Fanclubx.com

A Film that features a bunch of beautiful Latino actors who have bright bright futures ahead of them.
Writer and producer Christina Soto created a vehicle for Latino and Actors to shine on screen and to try their acting prowess in this romantic comedy material.
I say all actors involved passed with flying colors, as this is an ensemble of actors who truly made each other look good, non trying to out shine each other.

Soto's material brought the stories of  Latino business people who are in the middle class dealing with their relationship problems. Done through the medium of comedy... Soto successfully features how Latino families are strong knit and have a truly strong ties....

Relationships are emphasized in this story as lead character Esteban played by Chaz Mena has a bitter sweet relationship with his strong willed Playboy Father , who gives him advices that include how to pursue women.  Also attached to Esteban is his Fox Terrier pet Pepe, who in the middle of the story dies accidentally. Esteban is devastated. He could not function... until...

Fortunately, there was a mysterious crate that was delivered to him by the UPS Man. Voila, a life size doll, played by Beautiful Latina Actress - Francess Lozada.   Who do you think sent the Doll? What is this Doll for? Will this Doll help Esteban?

YES....Eventually Esteban found the magic in this Doll and finally found her woman ... perfect and available. He again found life. He got back to life and found a second wind in life....

Chaz Mena and Frances Lozada looked great on screen not only as beautiful people but true to life real people. They were convincing on how they truly loved each other and that they gave each other "life." Chaz in his physical  comedic timing looked so funny how he carried the life size doll around... I could just imagine how the doll (played by Frances) stopped herself from laughing as Chaz does his funny non verbal gyrations. Frances as the doll was perfect casting choice as she has a perfect mysterious beauty that would really give the reason for Esteban to fall in love with her. When the Doll moves, Frances Lozada gave the Doll the dichotomy of sexiness through her Mambo Dancing but yet still have the innocent girl next door feel to her.  The difficult assignment of being a Doll - not moving for a lot of time on set must have been difficult for Frances. But the professional actress that she is - she made it look like she was a real doll. Sometimes you would forget that yes the doll was played by an actress. How I wish they showed more of her with more relationship scenes with Chaz. Both of them looked funny and in the same time very romantic.

I think one selling point of this film is that as opposed to most independent films that are deep dark and depressing, every now and then we should be presented by beautifully acted fantasy romantic comedy like this film, that would make us laugh and  cry... entertainment does not only entail exciting car chase scenes, but could also be a non verbal physical comedy scene coming from intelligent beautiful actors who really know how to perform on screen.... now that is refreshing! Congrats to all involved in this film called Muneca!
