Interview with Star of Muneca - Frances Lozada

Exclusive Interview by: Luis Pedron of Fanclubx.com

Luis: What to you is the most challenging part of working in  a feature film as opposed to short films, episodic TV or  a stage play?

Frances: I think that whatever venue we perform in, it's always a challenge.  Every character is always a new one and unique one.  I like working in all venues, as long as I can bring life to a character.

Luis: How was the experience of playing a doll first in a  Showcase Window in a store and then in a box crate?

Frances: Playing a doll, is never easy.  First I had to keep really still and hardly blink and breathe for that matter.  When I was little, I used to freeze in the mirror and see how still I could look.  This exercise helped me a lot for this role of the doll.  The showcase window and the box crate was almost the same – No Movement at all.  Just still.  Very Still.

Luis: I know you are known to play serious roles? How was it to play a  role in a romantic comedy? How was your experience working with your
leading man?

Frances: I like serious roles. I love the energy that comes along with it.  It's intense.  I liked doing this film, it was different for me and made me realize, I could do a romantic comedy.  Working with the leading man was hard, because he was so funny and I had to stay so still and focus so that I would not break down and laugh.

Luis: What do you think is the message of the film?

Frances: The message of this film is that people will find love in many places, whatever it takes.  Some just even imagine it.  What ever works for them to feel sane.

Luis: How was your experience working with Christina as a Producer/Writer?

Frances: Christina Soto is great.  She is serious and gets the job done.  She makes her moves and make sure her work does not go unnoticed.  I like that about her.  I would work with her again.

Luis: The film is well acted and has a lot of sweet and funny scenes.  It looked like a fun set, pls tell us any funny anecdote on
the set?

Frances: The set was always colorful and fun, especially the loft.  It was huge and very spacious.  It even had an elevator in it.  There was always something going on the set.  Our crew was large.

Luis: I am so proud to see very good Latino Actors and talents of color in your film .... pls tell me how we can all push our movie industry to
continue featuring more Minority actors in lead roles?

Frances: I think that if we push our people, we will be able to encourage everyone else to push their people.   We have to find the way to put our people in all our projects.  Then we can grow together and make a name for ourselves. I think the way you do it Luis is great too.  The contests and the website is doing a lot for your people.

Luis: Please tell our youth out there what to do in pursuing  their dreams in the arts?

Frances: They should first think about school and their education, just to secure their future.  As a hobby they should do the arts if they like it.  Once they are older and their hearts yearn for the arts, then they should pursue it.  This is a difficult passion to follow, you really have to love it.

Luis: What is next for Frances?

Frances: Well, I am always looking to strive forward and grow as an artist. I am always looking for a good project to work on, even if I have to create it myself.  Right now, I am working on bringing my play called 'Insiders' to life.  It is about a murder that takes place and we don't find out what really happenes until the end of the play.  I think it is great, now let's see what the rest of the people who see it have to say.  Right now it is a trial period, if it's good we will continue with it further.
